FAKE BOOK

The spectacle presents itself simultaneously as all of society, as part of society, and as instrument of unification. As a part of society it is specifically the sector which concentrates all gazing and all consciousness. Due to the very fact that this sector is separate, it is the common ground of the deceived gaze and of false consciousness, and the unification it achieves is nothing but an official language of generalized separation.

Notes from a Face Book Gulag

Separation is itself part of the unity of the world, of the global social praxis split up into reality and image. The social practice which the autonomous spectacle confronts is also the real totality which contains the spectacle. But the split within this totality mutilates it to the point of making the spectacle appear as its goal. The language of the spectacle consists of signs of the ruling production, which at the same time are the ultimate goal of this production.

Zuckerworld is a perfect expression of ‘spectacle’ in all its manifestations and particularly insidious because it spans the world and infects the consciousness of over two billion minds. Creator of Face Book and genius illusionist Mark Zuckerberg has created the perfect deus ex machina in a world where the true becomes a moment of the false. Never has this been more evident than the manifestation in the 21st century of neo-fascism and the decline of America in its embrace of Trumpism.

The impotence of American politic to halt the advance of its undoing is typical of late stage capitalist entropy. But, one may ask, what does a feel-good mechanism, which extols the cuteness of kitties, puppies and baby anythings, the happy happy images of families, friends and loved ones, possibly have to do with de facto brainwashing on a massive scale?

On Face Book ‘image’ is everything, even the latitude given ‘free speech,’ which is provided enough room to assuage even bourgeois educated progressive activists that the ‘Book’ is a legitimate forum for ‘protest.’

The spectacle presents itself as something enormously positive, indisputable and inaccessible. It says nothing more than “that which appears is good, that which is good appears. The attitude which it demands in principle is passive acceptance which in fact it already obtained by its manner of appearing without reply, by its monopoly of appearance

The Matrix moment has come for many of us and we have a choice: the red pill or the blue pill. The blue pill will allow us to remain in the fabricated reality of the matrix or spectacle; the red serves as a “location device” to locate us in the real world and to prepare to be “unplugged” from the Matrix or Spectacle. Once one chooses the red or blue pill, the choice is irrevocable. Thus, having chosen the red pill, one experiences the truth of pure reality: that Hello Kitty is really the Borg in disguise.

bluekitty                    borg

Your narrator here is to be sure no Solzhenitsyn, whose suffering and appalling mauling of human rights experienced the pure unadulterated essence of the spectacle, none the less feels liberated enough by the red pill to share his prison graffiti on the walls of empire and its distilled wisdom in his diary notes to tell a cautionary tale that might influence a choice of freedom in the awakened reader. May the non-passive take heed. The basically tautological character of the spectacle flows from the simple fact that its means are simultaneously its ends. It is the sun which never sets over the empire of modern passivity. It covers the entire surface of the world and bathes endlessly in its own glory.”

Adgita

To the extent that necessity is socially dreamed, the dream becomes necessary. The spectacle is the nightmare of imprisoned modern society which ultimately expresses nothing more than its desire to sleep. The spectacle is the guardian of sleep.

A Story

Nearly five years ago the freedom fighter ex-gorilla cultural terrorist and teller of tales, Adgita entered the Fake Book world, as many do, to connect with far away old friends and family, because of his love of animals and their existential rights as living creatures and because of a passionate belief in actual democracy and its expression in a free human rights society.

Having never actually read the corporate philosophy, terms and conditions of Fake Book he was blissfully unaware of Hello Kitty’s true nature. Because of his fiery political opinions and habit of expressing them on such a world wide forum he soon became aware of the Borg’s punishment for unpleasantness aimed at the spectacle’s demand for civil consistency in regard to controlling the descriptive ethos of its message.  The oldest social specialization, the specialization of power, is at the root of the spectacle. The spectacle is thus a specialized activity which speaks for all the others. It is the diplomatic representation of hierarchic society to itself, where all other expression is banned. Here the most modern is also the most archaic

All in all Adgita was put in Face Book Gulag for a few days at at time for impolite criticisms of Donald Trump, the genocidal machinations of Zionist Israel and the Saudi horror show in Yemen. True to pure fascism’s insistence on disciplined control, Face Book’s imposition of prison time consisting of ex-communication from the Borg hive-mind is the worse possible punishment imaginable, for Face Book is a creation of algorithms designed to create dependency and addiction in its clients, clients who have absolutely no rights to complain, restrain or face down the depredations of the Face Book Borg. Face Book has absolutely no customer service. It has no recourse for its actions, no real e-mail or phone service and absolutely no accountability. One can write the corporation, but will never receive a response, not even for the fake response box it provides.

The “World Unplugged” study, which was conducted in 2011, claims that for some users quitting social networking sites is comparable to quitting smoking or giving up alcohol. Another study conducted in 2012 by researchers from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business in the United States found that drugs like alcohol and tobacco could not keep up with social networking sites regarding their level of addictiveness. A 2013 study in the journal CyberPsychology, Behavior, and Social Networking found that some users decided to quit social networking sites because they felt they were addicted. In 2014, the site went down for about 30 minutes, prompting several users to call 9-1-1.

Wading through Face Book’s corporate legalese requires extraordinary diligence and patience. The truth contained therein is terrifying. Face Book quite clearly states it does not support freedom of speech and determines as a corporation what speech is appropriate, in other words…censorship is a staple of its terms and conditions. The whole premise of Face Book is a lie. Face Book’s activities as corporation is strewn with tax evasion  and lawsuits. It is pure spectacle to watch Zukerberg’s scrubbed clean, fresh face boy act describe Face Book as a purely motivated entity dedicated to “bringing the world closer together,” which, you may now realize is pure spectacle.

Adgita’s recent confinement for six weeks is one of the maximum punishments Face Books dishes out. Considering the hundreds of cute animal pictures Adgita likes and loves, such punishment doled out to insult Face Book’s favorite monsters seems a bit harsh. Worse, Face Book blocked all access to customer management, to lodge response to the action and in violation to the terms and agreement…the right to delete the account. Once one realizes the true nature of Face Book, it becomes clear they wish to extract all data points valuable to their surveillance of clients. It is very insidious that Face Book uses absolutely all referential materials for use in selling advertisements. It was designed that way from the get go.

One can readily imagine that Face Book’s servers are probably on a par with the National Security Agency, which might explain the recent concerns of Congress and its show-time investigations of Face Book as a potential danger to the Republic.

Meanwhile, Adgita will not accept the things he cannot change and will delete his account when possible and thus find peace of mind outside the hive. Adgita can always be reached at the blog site. Feel free to contact on any comment thread or by e-mail.

The spectacle is the existing order’s uninterrupted discourse about itself, its laudatory monologue. It is the self-portrait of power in the epoch of its totalitarian management of the conditions of existence. The fetishistic, purely objective appearance of spectacular relations conceals the fact that they are relations among men and classes: a second nature with its fatal laws seems to dominate our environment. But the spectacle is not the necessary product of technical development seen as a natural development. The society of the spectacle is on the contrary the form which chooses its own technical content. If the spectacle, taken in the limited sense of “mass media” which are its most glaring superficial manifestation, seems to invade society as mere equipment, this equipment is in no way neutral but is the very means suited to its total self-movement. If the social needs of the epoch in which such techniques are developed can only be satisfied through their mediation, if the administration of this society and all contact among men can no longer take place except through the intermediary of this power of instantaneous communication, it is because this “communication” is essentially unilateral. The concentration of “communication” is thus an accumulation, in the hands of the existing system’s administration, of the means which allow it to carry on this particular administration. The generalized cleavage of the spectacle is inseparable from the modern State, namely from the general form of cleavage within society, the product of the division of social labor and the organ of class domination.”

we are free

Interesting as I’ve yet to experience that and am not on the correct side politically either– but a different incorrect one than yours, I guess– being neither left nor right. I though had an experience recently where a red box appeared on one of the posts as I scrolled down. The post had a man with a rifle across his knees. I have no idea what it was about as I didn’t read it. The box asked if I wished to report this as ‘evil’. I did not and x’ed it. Since it never showed up again, maybe others did say–yes,it’s repulsive. When I mentioned that at FB, another writer mentioned she saw it onone with a baby with an umbilical cord attached and she did like I had. They do push things.

I am staying with FB but I don’t like how it gives me some people to read over and over and I see nothing from others who were/are on my ‘friend’ list. It’s definitely manipulative but since I live a rather reclusive life, I am staying with it– for now.
