Teacher Moon
Round goddess
Emerges
From a mountain
Sea
Dripping silvery light
Smiling at us
Knowing her power
And reveling in its
Display.
And in her
incomprehensible
Brightness
I see
our potential,
How we can strive to
Reflect Light
Blinding if viewed directly
But through this
Intermediary
We can witness
Monthly
As much magnificence as is possible
With our earthly eyes.
It is the moon's
Compassion
That allows Her to lift Herself
Before our to date unworthy gaze
Unrobed,
resplendent,
Showing us at once
Her Glory, and also,
What we could someday
Become.
We must hear her,
Understand Her
Showmanship
As a challenge and a
Calling and,
If we resist,
A shaming.
Be Her student,
Turn yourself from
The shadows
A little bit at a time
And then one day
Rise like that
Yourself.
